Home Park is a historic neighborhood that is located between Georgia Tech (Georgia Institute of Technology) and Atlantic Station, just north of Downtown Atlanta and just west of 75/85. It is an interesting pocket. There are a mixture of home styles. Originally the neighborhood had mostly bungalows and typical designs for most homes built in the Atlanta area in the 1920’s and 30’s. Quite a few of the buildings have been divided into apartments, over the years. In the old days of relaxed building codes, a lot of the owners built big additions and enclosed porches and basically did what they could to maximize the number of GA Tech students they could rent to.For many years the neighborhood has had a great number of the homes being used for off campus housing for GA Tech. Some of the buildings are set up as rooming houses, but many have been divided into apartments, or rented as single family homes. The building of Atlantic Station which is immediately north of Home Park, has drastically improved the living experience for the residents. You can bike or walk straight into Atlantic Station from Home Park, or you can walk across a pedestrian bridge (crossing 75/85) that will take you to Midtown. Atlantic Station offers a wide variety of shopping, including a Publix supermarket, a great variety of restaurants and a huge multiplex movie theater.
There are Single family and Multi Family homes for sale in Home Park. A few apartment buildings have been converted to condos and some new loft style townhomes have been built in Home Park. Obviously they are not all rented to students and faculty.
